On person died in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Hutchinson County.

At about 8:08 p.m. Saturday, July 13, Steven Ray, 46, of Fritch, was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson south in the 100 block of Circle Back Drive, about two miles north of Fritch, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said. According to DPS, the motorcyclist was "traveling at an unsafe speed for a curve in the roadway and could not negotiate the curve."

The motorcycle then went off the right side of the road and struck a culvert.

Ray was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but he did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Hutchinson County Justice of the Peace Amanda Wysong.

The posted speed limit was 35 mph, and road conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
