This Week in History — July 4, 2024
A cave-in at the east portal of the No.1 tunnel, Spokane International Railway Co. four miles north of Bonners Ferry, occurred Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock. Section and wrecking crews have been working day and night to clear away the 1,500 yards of rock and dirt which covered the right-of-way for a considerable distance. Also under the law, no state property or facility is allowed to be used for providing...

A new law in effect this week in Idaho requires libraries to move books into an "adults only" section if a patron believes it contains sexual content that could be harmful to children. Libraries that don't comply face fines. But at least one library in the state, which says it doesn't have the space to create a separate section, now requires children to have a parent present, or a signed waiver, to even enter the building.
