    Sip, sip, hooray — Saturday, May 25 is National Wine Day . Rather than hopping in the car for a quick trip to Fredericksburg, check out these Texas Hill Country wineries with tasting rooms around Fort Worth to enjoy a glass a little closer to home.

    Barons Creek Vineyards
    Using grapes from Texas, California, Washington, and Spain, the vineyard opened in 2015 in Fredericksburg before expanding across the state.
    • Where to sip: Take a quick trip to Granbury, McKinney, or Dallas’ Bishop Arts District for a tasting.
    • Try This: Sip the signature bottle of Total Eclipse red blend in honor of the recent celestial event.
    Messina Hof
    Founded in 1977, the brand merges Old World hospitality with New World position. It is one of the largest producers of 100% Texas wine.
    • Where to sip: Head to downtown Grapevine for a premium flight in the historic Wallis Hotel.
    • Try This: The 2018 GSM is perfect for summer with notes of blueberry, blackberry, and dried roses.

    Lost Oak Winery
    The family-run business began in a bathtub in then-dry Abilene in the 1950s. Now, the woman-owned and operated winery creates hand crafted Texas wines like Blanc du Boise, Shiraz, Viognier, and Tempranillo.
    • Where to sip: Visit the 52-acre vineyard on the banks of Village Creek in Burleson.

    Silver Dollar Winery
    Owned by Richard and Melanie Bowen, the winery combines red varietals from West Texas to white varietals from North Texas.
