Fatal Fulton County fire under investigation

FAYETTE, Ohio — A fatal fire in Fulton County Saturday morning remained under investigation Monday.

The fire at 507 N. Fayette St. in Fayette killed an 18-year-old man and 19-year-old woman. A 16-year-old male was injured but has been released from a hospital.

Crews with the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department were called to the scene shortly after 9 a.m. and discovered the house on fire. The fire is believed to have started on the first floor of the structure, which lacked working smoke detectors.

The Lucas County Coroner’s Office is investigating the two fatalities, and state fire marshal investigators are collaborating with local authorities to determine the fire’s cause. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
