The Power of Life Foundation to hold backpack giveaway

FULTONDALE, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Birmingham organization will help families in need prepare for the upcoming school year Saturday.

The Power of Life Foundation will hand out backpacks to Jefferson County families Saturday. The backpacks will include school supplies, disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizers. The Power of Life Foundation Executive Director Lane Harper said the event is one way to end a financial burden for families.

“What we want to do is let the parents know and family members know, as well as the children, that people out here care for you,” Harper said. “And if we can set you up and put you in the best position possible, that’s where we want you.”

Harper said parents are asked to have their children with them at the giveaway, which will occur Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3020 Hawkins Ln. in Fultondale.
