A suspect is in custody after being accused of holding children hostage at a home in the Upstate, Wednesday night. The Gaffney Police Department responded just after 830PM to a home on Willow Street after a 911 hang up call.

The caller told dispatchers she needed police and laid the phone down. Dispatchers let officers know that the man was armed with a gun and was holding a baby, while two other children were inside the home.

Officers arrived and the suspect 31 year old, Ryan Anthony Lyles of Spartanburg refused to exit the house or release the hostages. The Cherokee County SWAT Team was called and began to communicate with the suspect.

Around 1130 Lyles released the victims and was arrested without incident. He's charged with 1st degree domestic violence and police say additional charges are pending.
