Three in custody after over 80 shots fired at apartment building

Three men are now in custody after a shooting in Gaffney, last month. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office happened around 2PM on the afternoon of April 24th at the Creekside Apartment Complex on Overbrook Drive.

The three suspects reportedly fired over 80 shots at a group of people. Deputies say 27 year old, Kevin Shakur Sanders was shot in the incident and underwent surgery. He was later transported to the Cherokee County Jail.

Two other suspects 26 year old, Derico Tyrick Smith and 24 year old, Cornelius Mayberry Jr. are also charged in the shooting. Smith was arrested in Montogmery, Alabama Thursday morning. Mayberry was arrested at a home in Gaffney, Thursday as well.

All three suspects face charges of attempted murder, a weapons violation and malicious property damage. Smith is being held in Alabama and is awaiting extradition.
