Mechanical breakdown for mobile home blocks road near Liberty
A mechanical problem for a mobile home left Liberty Drive blocked west of Liberty early Friday morning. Members of the Gage County Sheriff's Office were dispatched at 12:20 a.m. to the site, where they found a 70-foot mobile home on its way from Ellis to Liberty stuck on the road east of South 162nd Road.
Historical society celebrating 150th annversary of stone barn
The Gage County Historical Society and the Blue Valley Antique Collector’s Club are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Filley Stone Barn on July 13 and 14. The barn at 13282 E. Scott Road in Filley will be the site events on both days. Starting at 9 a.m. July 13, programs include the Cortland Opry House Dulcimer Players, the Beatrice Community Band and an evening movie. There will also be threshing demonstrations, kids farm history, hayrack rides, miniature donkeys, marbles, blacksmithing, woodworking, rock cutting and more. Lunch will be available for a freewill donation.
Gage County authorities bust group of motorcyclists clocked over 120 mph
BEATRICE, Neb. (WOWT) - Several law enforcement agencies teamed up over the weekend south of Omaha to nab a group of speeding motorcyclists. The Gage County Sheriff’s Office says it all went down around 3 p.m. Saturday along U.S. Highway 77 near Birch Road. A deputy saw a group of five motorcycles headed south at a high rate of speed. Radar clocked the lead bike at 127 miles per hour in a 70-mile-per-hour zone. GCSO says traffic was heavy in the area with several events happening like Homestead Days.

BEATRICE, Neb. — A normal Monday flight took a frightful turn when mechanical issues caused the pilot to make an emergency landing in a field in Nebraska. According to the Gage County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), at approximately 6:35 a.m. Monday, the Gage County Sheriff's Office was alerted by Southeast Communications about an aircraft that had made a forced landing in a bean field, roughly a mile north of Beatrice Community Hospital and two miles from the Beatrice airport.
Airplane that took off from Seward lands in Gage County bean field
A single-engine aircraft made an emergency landing near Beatrice Municipal Airport early Monday when it developed engine trouble. According to the Gage County Sheriff's Office, the plane was flying from Seward to Arkansas when it started having mechanical problems. The plane landed around 6:30 a.m. in a bean field about a mile north of Beatrice Community Hospital and about 2 miles short of the airport.
