Heat advisory for Beatrice area on Monday and Tuesday
Beatrice, Gage County and the surrounding area faced extreme heat Monday and has more coming Tuesday, with the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory for both days. The weather service generally issues heat advisories when the heat index is expected to reach 100 degrees or more for at least two consecutive days.
Airplane that took off from Seward, Nebraska, lands in Gage County bean field
A single-engine aircraft made an emergency landing near the Beatrice Municipal Airport early Monday when it developed engine trouble. According to the Gage County Sheriff’s Office, the plane was flying from Seward to Arkansas when it started having mechanical problems. The plane landed around 6:30 a.m. in a bean field about a mile north of Beatrice Community Hospital and about 2 miles short of the airport.
