Ford to shift electric vehicle strategy by building new lower-cost pickups and commercial van
DETROIT (AP) — Ford Motor Co. is changing its electric vehicle plans and now will focus on making two new electric pickup trucks and a new commercial van. The company says all will cost less, have longer range and be profitable within a year of reaching showrooms. Ford, which is losing millions on its current EVs, gave few details about the new products. But it said production of its next generation full-size electric pickup truck in Tennessee will be delayed 18 months, until 2027. The company also says it won’t build fully electric three-row SUVs, but instead will focus on making those vehicles as gas-electric hybrids. The other new pickup will be mid-sized, based on new underpinnings developed by a small team in California.

Martin Truex Jr. Caution Controversy: NASCAR Insider Questions the Call at Michigan
Martin Truex Jr. Caution Controversy: The recent caution issued for Martin Truex Jr. during the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan has ignited a critical discourse among NASCAR insiders, particularly regarding the apparent inconsistency in officiating standards. Analysts such as Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi have pointed out noticeable contrasts between Truex Jr.‘s minor wall contact and Austin Cindric‘s more substantial incident, which went unpunished. This disparity raises profound questions about the implications for race integrity and the potential ramifications for driver trust in the system. As tensions mount, one must consider how this incident could shape the broader narrative of the season.
Lions place 2 players on I.R., officially add LB Joel Iyiegbuniwe
A day after the addition was known to be coming, the Detroit Lions made it official. The team signed free agent linebacker Joel Iyiegbuniwe to a one-year contract ahead of the Lions’ final preseason game. Iyiegbuniwe has years of considerable special teams experience in the NFL, though the one-time Bears fourth-round pick has barely played on defense in his six years in the league. He fills the roster spot of linebacker Malik Jefferson, who was one of two players the Lions placed on injured reserve. Jefferson and veteran wideout Tre’Quan Smith had their Lions seasons ended with the move to I.R. Detroit also reached injury settlements with two undrafted rookies who were previously waived, DB Morice Norris and LB DaRon Gilbert.

Did you know you can check the safety history of your child’s school bus?
LANSING - With the start of a new school year, Michigan State Police are reminding parents and guardians that they have the ability to check the safety records of all school buses in Michigan. As part of Michigan’s School Bus Inspection Program, all public, private, denominational, parochial, charter school and public-school academy vehicles taking children to or from school, or school-related events by law must be inspected annually by a member of the MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. ”Anyone with a smart phone can scan a QR code displayed on the bus service door where students enter the bus,” said Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP. “Every parent or guardian has instant access to the condition of the vehicle transporting your student.” Once inspected, a bright green sticker showing the MSP shield and school calendar year is placed on the front windshield of the bus. Inspection results are then available to anyone by scanning the QR code displayed on the bus service door where students enter the bus.
