Hats & High Tea at the Penn Wells Hotel
The historic Penn Wells Hotel will be hosting renown milliner Christine A. Moore for a unique “Hat and High Tea” event on July 27 at 11:30 a.m. Christine has designed hats for countless celebrities, appeared on the Today Show a total of eight times, and had her hats featured in Vanity Fair among many other fashion magazines. She is best know for her one-of-a-kind Kentucky Derby hats and can be found cycling around Wellsboro whenever she is able to get away from her New York City studio and grueling travel schedule.

Meet the 2024 Potter County Fair Queen Candidate Emilee Dailey
All former Potter County Fair Queens are invited to August 1 coronation!. Emilee Dailey is the sixteen year old daughter of Kim and John Dailey of Coudersport. She has been coming to the fair since she was three years old! Over the years, Emilee has exhibited rabbits for nine years, horses for 12 years, goats for three years and this year is trying a market lamb for the first time. She has also entered photography and Lego projects.
Greenwood Town Supervisor Miller: It Rained For Hours Last Night
“The rain was insane last night. It started to pour at about 5:20 and did not let up until around 8, then still continued to rain for most of the night. There were reports of water over the road way on 417 by the County Highway Barns and from County Route 63 over 417. There was a tree down on County Route 64. As far as our Town roads, I have not received a report of any damage yet. Fingers crossed there isn’t any. I have Steuben Rural electric, and our power went out before 7 and wasn’t back on until 11:30pm.”

Sister Jenny’s Outreach Center in Middlebury Center hosted the annual Christmas in July giveaway and celebration on Saturday, July 20. Everything was free for the taking — furniture, electronics, home decor, clothes and kid’s and pet items. Families browsed the warehouse taking what they needed, particularly children’s items.

The Tioga County Woodland Owners Association hosted Joyce and Charlie Andrews as guests of its monthly meeting, held July 23 at Island Park in Blossburg. The Andrews talked about the progress of the Tioga River restoration, fish habitat and streambed stabilization that will take place on the banks of Island Park.
St. Paul's Episcopal holds murder mystery to benefit Relay
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Wellsboro, held a murder mystery evening on Saturday, July 20 to benefit the Soul Strutters Relay for Life team. Dozens of spectators turned out for the event, entitled Murder at the Deadwood Saloon. Set in 1874 in the wild west, the show featured a cast of 15 comprised of church members and community volunteers.
Mansfield Halloween plans taking shape
MANSFIELD – Borough council here heard an update from Halloween committee chair Julie York, of Mansfield, about a “tentative agenda” during a recent council meeting. “The goal is to make the entire month of October about Halloween in Mansfield,” York told council members in June. “These are all my ideas on each weekend leading up to Halloween.”
Update On Monday Night’s Flash Flooding
Last night the National Weather Service put out a Flash Flood Warning, mostly focused on Greenwood. Today, Steuben County Director of Public Safety and Emergency Services Tim Marshall issued the following statement, quote, “We saw sporadic minor flooding issues in Bath, Painted Post and Greenwood. In Greenwood the flooding was at State Route 417 at County Route 63. It was handled by the New York State Department of Transportation All issues appeared to be minor. Some areas saw over two inches of rain last night.”
Liberty roadwork project still ongoing
LIBERTY, Pa. (WETM) — Construction crews will be working on a couple of roads in Liberty Borough this upcoming week as part of a two-year-long project. State Route 303 to close for culvert work in Nelson Twp.
State Route 303 will be closed for a culvert replacement just east of State Route 88 in Nelson Township from July 29 to Aug. 2, the Ohio Department of Transportation said. Respect. It’s a word I learned at a very young age. My mom and dad showed us how to be respectful. They also taught us things that I thought were “picky” at the time. When everyone would cut the corner walking toward the high school, we were instructed not to walk on the grass but to stay on the sidewalk instead. We didn’t go into the neighbors’ yards unless invited by the parents and we weren’t to touch things that didn’t belong to us, again, without permission.
STATE POLICE AT MANSFIELD
Shauna G. Knapp, 34, of Morris Run, was injured in a one-vehicle crash on North Bullock Road, Charleston Township July 21. Knapp was traveling north in a 2019 Nissan Rogue when she failed drove off the road and hit a ditch The car sustained disabling damage. Knapp suffered unknown injuries and was transported by Wellsboro Firemen’s Ambulance to UPMC Williamsport for treatment. Charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants are pending investigation.
