Each recruiting cycle, July serves as a dead period other than the last handful of days leading into August. This year, it’s the 25th-31st.

That final weekend is also when the Florida Gators host their Grill in the ‘Ville event. It typically features numerous blue-chip targets and this year should have a similar turnout.

For our Gators Online subscribers, below are four prospects Florida needs to get on campus in late July.

4-star CB Ben Hanks Jr. , Miami Booker T. Washington
    On3 Industry Ranking
    : No. 90 prospect | No. 10 cornerback | No. 13 prospect in Florida
Notes : The timing here will be interesting, as Hanks wants to make a decision later this month or early August. Getting him on campus for Friday Night Lights was a big deal ahead of his Miami official visit. Now, the Gators might need to play host again if they want to come out on top. They are definitely in a much better spot than they were months ago, but Miami and Georgia have likely been more consistent over the long haul. It’s a close battle at the top though, so another experience in Gainesville could certainly impact his decision. This is a very important target for UF.

4-star OT Tavaris Dice , Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes — AUBURN COMMIT
    On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 203 prospect | No. 16 offensive tackle | No. 28 prospect in Georgia
Notes : It’s been fairly quiet since Dice officially visited the Florida Gators roughly three weeks ago. I’m leaning toward the Tigers hanging on, but Dice hasn’t said his recruitment is shut down and Florida is the only other program he’s considering. Like at Auburn, he has strong relationships in Gainesville and visited a handful of times. Keep in mind though: Big Cat Weekend at Auburn is this month too, so the Gators might need to host Dice on another date instead for the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout. It’s a thin offensive line board and Dice is near the top.

4-star S Bryce Fitzgerald , Miami Christopher Columbus
    On3 Industry Ranking : No. 219 prospect | No. 20 safety | No. 31 prospect in Florida
Notes : We don’t have a commitment date for Fitzgerald just yet, but an announcement is expected before the end of summer. And right now, it’s a fluid recruitment featuring Florida, Miami, LSU and Florida State, although the Gators and Seminoles have been buzzing as of late. With Hylton Stubbs committed to Miami, Fitzgerald is my most-likely addition at safety right now. He had a strong official visit and spoke very highly about his time around secondary coach Will Harris . Florida was his favorite school growing up too. Getting Fitzgerald on campus at the end of the month could be a game changer.

4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery , Miami Central
    On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 244 prospect | No. 36 wide receiver | No. 34 prospect in Florida
Notes : Although I still like where Florida sits best, that doesn’t mean the Gators don’t need to get Montgomery on campus again. That’s because he pushed his commitment timeline back to the early fall. Penn State received an official visit in June and is likely UF’s top competition, while Alabama, Florida State and LSU are being mentioned too. You never know once the season starts and Montgomery gets back on the road, so a strong return visit could result in him committing this summer after all. He’s planning to attend the Grill in the ‘Ville cookout.
