When June 15 arrived, Milton (Fla.) Pace 4-star offensive lineman Grant Wise was contacted by numerous Power-Four programs.

With an offer sheet featuring 25-plus programs, that was expected, but some suitors went the extra mile out the gate. One of them was the Florida Gators, who offered nearly a year ago.

Wise, a 2026 prospect, is On3’s No. 150 prospect and No. 10 interior offensive lineman.

“On the 15th (of June), I heard from multiple staff members, including (co-offensive line) coach (Rob) Sale , I also recently had a conversation with (co-offensive line) coach (John) Decoster ,” Wise told Gators Online.

“On my birthday July 2nd, I received multiple happy birthdays from coaches and handwritten letters wishing me happy birthday. I went to games the past two seasons and attended a camp where I received my offer. I look forward to being back in Gainesville and further building my relationship with the staff.”

Florida’s blueprint caters to offensive linemen

The Gators’ heavy investment in the offensive trenches is a major reason why Pace has been a familiar face at Florida .

Sale and Decoster are the faces of that group, but Kaleb Johnson and other staffers make their presence felt as well. That’s both on the field and in recruiting.

“The number of offensive line coaches. Also, showing their dedication to developing the trenches,” Wise said of his overall interest in the Gators.

Grant Wise is prepping to make first cut in recruitment

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine , Florida State holds the slight advantage over the Gators. Both programs played host multiple times in 2023 and check the proximity box, especially the Seminoles.

Wise, 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, possesses additional offers from Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Miami, Oklahoma and Tennessee among others.

“When I release a narrowed list of schools, Florida will be on it,” said Wise.

A return trip to Gainesville is not scheduled, but Wise is expected on campus this fall.

    Stay tuned to Gators Online.
