Vernell Brown III’s Most Wanted recruiting targets

Now that he is a Florida Gators commit, elite receiver Vernell Brown III of Orlando (Fla.) Jones is ready to do some recruiting to help grow the class. And it’s a role he’s “absolutely” embracing.

“I’ll just be getting in contact with guys, kind of seeing where their hearts are at,” Brown told Gators Online. “I don’t have to be aggressive with them. They’ve got enough recruiters doing that. I want to see where their heads are, seeing if they like Florida and being transparent with them.”

Brown started recruiting soon after he committed.

“I’ve talked to (4-star receiver Naeshaun Montgomery ) and (4-star safety Bryce Fitzgerald ) — I was telling them how important they are to this class and to the staff,” Brown said. “But also making sure they know they have to be up to the task at hand at Florida. And making sure I’m transparent and telling them I can’t do it without them. I can’t do it by myself. I need other really good players besides me to make this thing happen. It was all good responses. I try not to give them too much of a recruiting pitch so it doesn’t sound redundant. Also, I let them know, wherever you go, I’ll support you. Hopefully it’s Florida.”

Brown, the No. 33 recruit in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings, will attend Florida’s Grille in the Ville recruiting event Saturday. He thinks it’s a good chance to talk to multiple Gators targets across different classes.

‘I’ll be recruiting extremely hard,” he said. “Like I’ve said, I can’t do it by myself (as a player). I’ll be sure to do my part and hopefully help this class.”

Brown still is learning about Florida’s recruiting board and who the top prospects are. But for now, these are Vernell Brown III ‘s Most Wanted targets.

*4-star receiver Naeshaun Montgomery , Miami (Fla.) Central: “ He’s a really good player. He has that long lengthy frame, can run and stretch the field. He’s just a good receiver. He’s sure-handed. I think the chances are really high (for the Gators). He set his commitment date, so now I’m making sure he knows how bad he’s wanted.”

*4-star CB Ben Hanks , Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington: “With that legacy piece — being his dad went there — it’s kind of like me; it would mean more to him to wear that orange and blue. On another note, he’s a long and lengthy corner who can shut down a whole half of the field. I feel like we’re in a good position with him.”

*4-star S Bryce Fitzgerald, Miami (Fla.) Columbus: “ He’s a solid player and he can cover really well. He’ll make a tackle and go sideline to sideline. He’s just a really athletic player. I think our chances are pretty good. It could go either way with Florida and one of his other top schools.”
