Gators Online has submitted another On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick in favor of Florida , this time for a legacy target in the 2025 class.

That prospect is Miami Booker T. Washington cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. My confidence level for the pick is currently at 75 percent. Additional top contenders for the 4-star prospect include Georgia, Miami and Louisville.

According to the On300 rankings, Hanks is the No. 72 prospect and No. 10 cornerback in his class.

Why Florida is my prediction for Ben Hanks Jr.

Roughly two weeks ago, GO released the latest Legacy Report and mentioned the strong level of optimism on the Florida side. Like we mentioned in that report, I had been leaning toward Miami for much of Hanks’ recruitment. The Hurricanes are the hometown program and have received the most visits, so there is plenty of comfort in Coral Gables.

However, after coming back from vacation, I’ve came across more confidence on the Florida side after reconnecting with a reliable source. I’m hearing a decision could be made as early as this week as well.

Hanks is the son of former Florida Gators linebacker Ben Hanks , but it’s also worth noting his sister attended UF. Those connections to the SEC university are strong and were at the center of attention during Hanks’ official visit, as Steve Spurrier joined the family for one of the dinners. Reliving the father’s path that weekend made an impact and was a nostalgic experience for the family.

Altogether, Hanks spent nearly a handful of days in Gainesville last month after taking an official visit and then returning for 7v7. That second visit was needed, but the OV is what catapulted Florida to the next level. Hanks hadn’t been on campus for nearly a year before then. I’m hearing NIL is a strong factor too.

Recruiting can change instantly in 2024; we all know that, but I’m comfortable with projecting Hanks to the University of Florida. That’s the buzz right now for several reasons.

    Stay tuned to Gators Online.
