    The Florida Gators on Wednesday landed commitments from three players, including two in the 2025 class —4-star safety Demetres Samuel and unranked defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou — and one 2026 player, 4-star safety Devin Jackson . That gives coach Billy Napier’s program 12 pledges in the 2025 recruiting class (see the commit list HERE ) and three for 2026. Who could be next to jump in the boat? Here are some candidates:

    *4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery , Miami (Fla.) Central
    COMMITMENT: Aug. 25
    411: Montgomery, a 4-star prospect, is the No. 34 receiver in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings. Florida isn’t just a top contender — it’s the favorite. And a heavy favorite at that. Montgomery visited the Gators twice last week. He feels comfortable in Gainesville, has bonded with the staff, is being recruited hard by the current commits and likes the idea of catching passes from quarterback DJ Lagway . He said Saturday that LSU is his other top school but right now the arrow is pointing to Florida.

    * 4-star S Bryce Fitzgerald , Miami Christopher Columbus
    COMMITMENT: Aug. 17
    411: Many view this recruitment as a Florida-FSU battle and there continues to be some optimism in Gainesville. LSU and Miami are the other schools in the mix and he visited the ‘Canes last weekend. Of note, Miami already has five defensive backs committed. Having his longtime friend and mentor Jason Marshall — a defensive back — on the roster at Florida is a big plus for the Gators. On the flip side, it sounds like Fitzgerald might have at least some concerns about staff stability in Gainesville. This one could go in a number of directions but Florida is right there and certainly is a top contender.

    *4-star CB Ben Hanks Jr. , Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington
    COMMITMENT: Sometime in August — or possibly early during the season.
    411: Could the Gators land another legacy this cycle? It’s certainly possible. In our view, Florida has made a significant move for Hanks, whose father played linebacker for the Gators, during the past two months. In fact, we believe Florida now is the team to beat. Hanks did, however, visit Miami last weekend and the Hurricanes remain a contender. But as of today, it feels like the Gators are in the best position to land him.

    *UR DL Tarvorise Brown , Hutchinson Community College (Kan.)
    COMMITMENT: Possibly in the near future
    411:  Saturday, Florida offered Brown a scholarship during his first visit to the school. Soon after, he said the Gators were his leader. Then, Brown returned to campus this week to get a closer look. Meanwhile, we have learned the Gators like his upside and frame (he’s 6-foot-8 and 290 pounds). He’s a little bit of a developmental player but the piece of clay is there. Utah State at last check was Brown’s only other offer. We think there’s a strong possibility he lands in Gainesville.

    *2026 LB Izayia Williams , Tavares (Fla.)
    COMMITMENT: Currently committed to Syracuse
    411: Williams is the No. 41 prospect and No. 3 linebacker in the 2026 class for On3. He visited the Gators last week and now Corey Bender of Gators Online is projecting him to flip (story HERE ).
