Ryan Huff got an up-close look at the Florida Gators on Wednesday and the visit to Gainesville impressed the 3-star quarterback from Pensacola Catholic (Fla.).

“It was great,” Huff told Gators Online. “I really enjoyed my time there. I mean, Coach ( Ryan O’Hara ) and Coach ( Billy Napier ) — they put on a great visit. I got to see everything I wanted to see.”

Huff, who camped at Florida earlier this year, is committed to Old Dominion. But Florida has shown strong interest in him of late. Huff, who said he is 6-foot-3 and 217 pounds, led Pensacola Catholic to a 11-3 record in 2023. He completed 56.5 percent of his passes for 2,018 yards, 14 touchdowns and 6 interceptions per MaxPreps.

Ryan Huff now has visited the Gators twice

Huff is the No. 90 QB in the country for On3. After having signed 5-star recruit DJ Lagway in the 2024 class, the Gators hope to bring in another high school QB this cycle. They have not offered Huff, but he is hopeful that changes. And optimistic.

“I just think it would mean a lot,” Huff said. “Obviously, I still have a lot of loyalty to Old Dominion. I love those coaches to death. But you’d definitely have to consider an SEC offer this late.”

Huff liked what he saw from the Florida quarterbacks at practice Wednesday.

“Honestly, Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway looked phenomenal,” Huff said. “I think Coach O’Hara does such a great job letting them have freedom in the offense. The way the QBs really take advantage of that is very special. Watching the team period, they both move very well. They extended plays. I think the Gators definitely have good quarterbacks.”

Meanwhile, Huff said he got good feedback from Napier and O’Hara.

“It’s really just to be continued into my first few games and then from there they’ll see where they want to go,” Huff said. “They say that they love me. They love the way I play. They think I’m a really good quarterback and they want to continue to watch me just to see a little bit more.”

Huff plans to visit the Gators again for a game this season. He’s still working out which one he’ll be at.
