UPDATE: More cities are releasing details on their cleanup efforts after Monday night’s storm.

    Moline

Public Works crews will be actively clearing debris from roadways across the city this week. Public Works will conduct a special pickup in residential areas to collect tree limbs and brush related to the storm on July 15 th starting Tuesday, July 23. Residents should make sure limbs and brush are under six inches in diameter, under six feet in length and placed at the curb in front of homes. Bushes, shrubs and other typical yard waste will not be collected during this special pickup. Call (309) 524-2400 for more information.

    Bettendorf

The city will collect tree/brush material that is under six inches in diameter, cut to a maximum length of five feet and placed at the curb in front of residences. Tree debris, branches, trunks, and stumps from tree removal by a tree service contractor must be removed by a licensed hauler at the owner’s or tree service’s expense.

    Davenport

Solid waste collection is continuing as scheduled. Small debris should be placed in an appropriate yard waste bag with a sticker. Brush and limbs should be bundled, no longer than five feet long and no more than 50 pounds. Call Public Works at (563) 326-7923 to make arrangements for major cleanups. Private property owners with downed trees on their property must find a contractor for removal.

    Kewanee

Residents can drop off limbs, branches and natural debris only at the designated collection point at the old Kewanee Hospital Property, 719 Elliot Street. They should enter through 400 block of West Division Street and exit onto Pine Street.

EARLIER: A news release from Galesburg details how the city is managing debris from last night’s storm.

Tree limbs and power lines throughout Galesburg were brought down by the storm. Staff are working to clear limbs and storm debris from the public roadways and rights-of-way, but if power lines are involved, city staff can’t clear the debris until after Ameren has repaired the power lines and given them clearance. The repair work may take time since the storm affected a substantial portion of Ameren’s territory. Crews are working overtime to complete the needed clean-up and repairs. Click here for the road closure map on the city’s website. The website will be updated as the roadways are cleared and re-opened.

Residents cleaning up their property can drop off storm debris at the oversized brush and limb drop-off, 636 Pickard Road. The drop-off site will have extended hours for the next two weeks; the hours will be Wednesday through Sunday each week, July 17 – 21 and July 24 – 28. The hours will be 7 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Friday – Sunday. Click here for more information on oversize brush and limb drop-off.

Galesburg will clear all trees and limbs from public property, such as streets, terraces/right of ways and public parks. It will clear all downed city-owned trees, those planted on city property, including the right-of-way, regardless of where they fall, even if they fall on privately owned property. Residents are responsible for clearing downed trees or limbs from their privately owned trees, except for portions that may have fallen on the roadway or right of way. Smaller sections of limbs and branches can be placed at the curb for the standard yard waste pick-up. Click here for more on the guidelines for debris. Yard waste must be bundled in lengths no more than five feet and less than 50 pounds in weight. The ties for the bundles must be degradable and no single piece of brush can be greater than five inches in diameter.

Residents with issues regarding power lines or power outages can check the Ameren power outage map . For more information on cleanup or pickups, call the Galesburg Public Works Department at (309) 345-3623.
