The healing power of art — as seen through the eyes of nine unique artists — will be on exhibit at the George Dunbar Gallery in Slidell when "Revival," an invitational art exhibition, opens with a reception and artist's talk on July 19 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. “Revival” will run through Sept. 6, and the public is invited to enjoy the free reception and talk.
Lafayette Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying iPad Theft Suspect
The Lafayette Crime Stoppers and the Lafayette Police Department are seeking assistance from the public in identifying a suspect involved in a theft at a local Best Buy. On July 5, at approximately 2:00 PM, an unidentified Asian male entered the Best Buy store located at 5627 Ambassador Caffery Parkway. The suspect proceeded to remove an iPad 13 Pro, valued at $1,300, from one of the displays. The individual managed to cut the security cable securing the device before exiting the premises.

COVINGTON --- District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on July 12, 2024, a St. Tammany Parish jury deliberated for less than an hour before returning guilty verdicts on all charges against 37-year-old Patrick “Paris” McCarty of Lacombe arising out of the fatal beating of 36-year-old Joshua James in 2022.

Local pastor accused of theft for refusing to complete construction project
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A local pastor is being accused of theft after refusing to finish a project for a client. Derek D. Bellard, of Stay the Course of Louisiana Full Gospel Ministries, was arrested July 8 and charged with theft over $25,000, according to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office. He was released the following day on a $15,000 bond.
