A New Jersey woman has been charged after four dead kittens were found inside her freezer. Nancy Santos was placed in custody and charged with 43 counts of animal neglect after the horror discovery was made on Monday.

The 57-year-old from Galloway was the center of an ongoing investigation after police received reports of numerous animals living in inhumane conditions at her home on Cresson Avenue.

The Galloway Township Police Department Humane Law Enforcement Officers raided the property where they found two dead adult dogs , one dead adult cat, and four dead kittens. All had been placed inside a freezer.

Seven dogs and 29 cats were able to be rescued . Santos was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a future court date and police insisted it "remains committed to investigating any report of animal cruelty".
