Folsom approves $2.7 million for affordable housing. It’s city’s 11th loan in over 20 years
FOLSOM, Calif. — Last week Folsom City Council conditionally approved a $2.7 million loan for the construction of 52 affordable housing units. The loan was awarded to West Development Ventures, an affiliate of Pacific West Communities Inc., so it can develop its Harrington Grove project along Harrington Way in Folsom, which is south of East Bidwell Street and west of Blue Ravine Road, according to city documents.

Firefighters rescue kitten during fire that ripped through Citrus Heights home
CITRUS HEIGHTS – Everyone got out safely, including a cat, after a fire erupted inside a Citrus Heights home Monday morning. Metro Fire of Sacramento crews responded to the scene along Sylvan Creek Court, off Sylvan Road, just after 10 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from a home. Firefighters went to work quickly, making sure everyone was out of the home, but the inside of the home suffered moderate to major damage. One bedroom and a hallway, in particular, suffered the most damage. A kitten was rescued by firefighters from inside the home, Metro Fire says.Exactly what started the fire is now under investigation.

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — A one-story house caught fire Monday morning in Citrus Heights, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said. Fire crews were dispatched around 10:08 a.m. to a property on Sylvan Creek Court off Sylvan Road. All occupants were safely evacuated, including a kitten, Sac Metro Fire said.
