Trenton Firefighters respond to smoke incident at Plaza Apartments
On July 18, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Trenton Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at 715 Main St. Plaza Apartments, owned by Ozella Biswell. Upon arrival, firefighters found no smoke visible from the exterior. However, light smoke was detected inside the apartment. Firefighters quickly entered the premises and discovered a pot left on the stove, which the tenant had forgotten to turn off before leaving.
Drought almost completely gone in Missouri
The drought in Missouri is almost completely gone, thanks to recent heavy rains. The latest drought monitor map shows only a small oval-shaped area of abnormally dry conditions that covers parts of Newton, Jasper, Barry, and Lawrence counties in southwestern Missouri. There’s also a thin sliver of abnormal dryness south of Branson along the Arkansas border.

North Central Missouri Fair announces lineup of grandstand events
North Central Missouri Fair officials have released information regarding additional grandstand events in Trenton. A garden tractor pull will be on July 27 at 7 p.m. General admission will cost $15 per adult and $5 per child aged six to 10 years old. Children five and younger will be admitted for free. The Lions Club will have food concessions, and there will also be a beer garden at the garden tractor pull on July 27.
Livingston County Fair – Premium Livestock Auction
Champions from the Livingston County Fair livestock shows will be in the ring again on Friday, but this will be the Auction Ring. The annual Premium Livestock Auction will start Friday at 7:00 pm, in the Jenkins Building. Fair Board President Jennifer Horton says while the animals will be sold, the youth will still have ownership.
Trenton Police Department answers 478 calls for service in June
The Trenton Police Department responded to a total of 478 calls for service and self-initiated activities in June, according to the department’s monthly report. In June, officers made 51 field interview contacts and completed 46 incident or offense reports. The department conducted 32 traffic stops, issued 27 warnings for traffic violations, and addressed 14 criminal charges resulting from arrests. Additionally, police collected 13 pounds of unwanted prescriptions, issued 10 citations or summons, completed 10 motor vehicle crash reports, and arrested six suspects.

Highway Patrol Crash And Arrest Reports
A two-vehicle crash on US 65, five miles south of Chillicothe left one driver injured Thursday morning. State Troopers report the crash occurred on US 65 at LIV 416 at about 11:45 am. According to the report, both vehicles were southbound on US 65 and 75-year-old Judy Fraizer of Chillicothe began to slow to make a turn and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 91-year-old Donald Bevelle of Chillicothe.
