Look, we’ve been waiting for truly revealing news about the Nintendo Switch 2 for a long time now. In fact, there were people late in 2023 who were stating that the next Nintendo console was “definitely” coming out in 2024, and now we know that’s not true. Plus, there’s no “Switch Pro” like others stated there would be, so that’s a 0/2 situation right there. The Big N has made it clear that they are releasing it in 2025, but they haven’t given a specific date or window yet. However, a new insight from certain developers making games for the system might have something to say about that.

Microsoft is rumored to be developing several upcoming titles and one of the consoles some believe to be in development is an Xbox hybrid console similar to the Nintendo Switch. However, according to Windows Central’s JezCorden this turns out to be false. In the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, Corden stated that the console will be a standard home console but will have a handheld as an add on. “I’ll tell you now: there’s going to be a separate handheld and there’s going to be an Xbox Series X successor,” he said. “It’s going to be two different things. They’re not just going to try and go all in on handheld only; they’re going to do a more traditional console for the Series X people and then a handheld. […] I’m predicting a Series X successor, a handheld, and the end of the paywall for premium multiplayer games.”
