Update: Search Underway In Groveland For Man Carrying Ax
Update at 2:25 p.m.: The CHP was first on the scene after a caller reported a nude white male with long hair carrying an ax along Bairds Road, near Merrell Road, south of Highway 120 in the Groveland area of Tuolumne County. CHP officers searched the area, including some outbuildings and even a home at the end of Bairds Road, but could not find the suspect and the case was turned over to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office. Spokesperson Ashley Boujikian tells Clarke Broadcasting that their dispatch also received two reports of this suspect, with the callers reporting that the man was not exhibiting any signs of aggressive behavior and could be a resident in the area. After two hours of searching without locating the suspect, the deputies cleared the scene.
Western Baptist State Convention Plans 134th Annual Session
Members of the Western Baptist State Convention of California will hold their 134th Annual Session starting Saturday, August 3, and continuing through Thursday, August 8. According to WBSC President J. Benjamin Hardwick, the session will take place in the Southwest District Association at Pilgrim Progressive Baptist Church in San Diego. The Rev. Joe Conner is the host moderator and the Rev. Donnell Townsend is the host pastor.
Local business owner faces life-altering challenge after severe spinal injury
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On June 23, South Lake Tahoe business owner, Casey Tynan, who operates Lake Tahoe Tours and Rentals, was airlifted to Renown Hospital in Reno after shattering his L1 vertebrae and impacted his T12 and L5 vertebrae. Tynan suffered a severe spinal cord injury during the Tahoe Mountain Bike Festival while performing a backflip that went wrong.
Governor Newsom announces appointments 7.17.24
SACRAMENTO – Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointments:. Melany Acosta-Parra, of Kerman, has been appointed to the California Youth Empowerment Commission. Acosta-Parra has been a Recreation Leader for the City of Kerman Parks and Recreation Department since 2021. She served on the Kerman Youth Commission from 2021 to 2024. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Acosta-Parra is a Democrat.
