Excessive heat warning extended, storms on the horizon for Las Vegas
The valley's Excessive Heat Warning has been extended and after a few showers Monday morning, storm chances will continue to be in the forecast this week. MONDAY: After waking up to a few sprinkles, expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies at the start of the day. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will start developing around midday, mostly in the mountains. The weather becomes more active this afternoon through the early evening. High temperatures will reach around 109 degrees in Las Vegas with southeast winds up to 10 mph. Winds will become much stronger as storms develop. The best chances of stormy weather will be in the high terrain and the heaviest rain is forecast to fall in Mohave County, AZ. Rain amounts in Las Vegas are estimated to be between a trace up to .05" these next few days. However, with monsoon season thunderstorms brief heavy downpours will be possible along with gusty winds and lightning from developing storms.

Hard Rock International will donate several artifacts from the Mirage Hotel and Casino to the Neon Museum in Las Vegas. The donation is in collaboration with the PENTA Building Group, the general contractor selected to do most of the demolition of the iconic Strip resort that closed Wednesday.
