Iowa City man accused of second domestic assault incident
An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after an alleged assault on the mother of his two children. The incident reportedly occurred at the Broadway Street residence of 45-year-old Lfils Luvoma at around 7:45pm. According to police, he pushed his girlfriend against the wall. She then attempted to get a phone out of Luvoma’s pants pocket, causing him to reportedly strike her several times in the back.

A New Dog Park Will Open in Cedar Rapids This Week
Cedar Rapids will get its third dog park later on this week! The 12th Avenue Dog Park is set to open its gates on Friday, July 19th at 10:30 a.m. Located at 405 12th Avenue SE in the Oak Hill Jackson Neighborhood, the 12th Avenue Dog Park is around a half-acre in size. Community Action to buy Smith building for $1 Winneshiek County
Winneshiek County plans to sell Decorah’s historic Smith building to Northeast Iowa Community Action. During Monday morning’s Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors meeting, NEICAC Director Trisha Wilkins reported that the NEICAC Board of Directors recently approved the purchase of the Smith building – located at 305 Montgomery St. – from the county for $1. The formal deeding of the property will require a public hearing at a later date. The board generally agreed to on a tentative transfer date of Sept. 3, and will continue discussions with NEICAC regarding the expected sale.
