Sheriff’s Gang and Narcotics Division makes Yucca Valley arrest as part of Operation: Consequences
An arrest was made in Yucca Valley last week by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Gang/Narcotics Division. Between July 13 and July 19 the Sheriff’s Department served 13 search warrants related to gang members and felons believed to be in possession of weapons or narcotics as part of Operation: Consequences. One of those warrants was served in the 7700 Block of Victor Vista Ave in Yucca Valley.

While there’s no word on where the mural of George Floyd might ultimately land (or be recreated), there has been progress on restoring the artwork that’s partially on plywood sheets and partially on the vacant building at 311 Indian Canyon Drive. Artist MisterAlek recently applied fresh paint to the mural, doing away with the vandalism that had marred it over the past few years. The City Council approved $3,500 for the repair work, as the Public Arts Commission recommended. High-resolution photographs of the piece will now be taken to create a permanent record of the mural that could be used as reference for its possible re-creation elsewhere.

Border Patrol agents seize weapons and ammunition during traffic stop in Indio
United States Border Patrol agents made a large gun bust in early July, seizing a cache of weapons and ammunition that they found hidden inside of a vehicle in Indio. The seizure happened late July 1, according to agents from the Indio Station, who pulled a car over on I-10 near Chiriaco Summit, according to a statement from USBP."After a Border Patrol K-9 team trained in detection alerted to the vehicle, a search revealed weapons and ammunition concealed in two duffle bags, one in the vehicle's trunk and one in the vehicle's backseat," the statement said. Criminal Investigation into Palm Springs Guaranteed Income Program Misuse
A criminal investigation is underway into the alleged misuse of funds in Palm Springs’ guaranteed income program by Queer Works. Palm Springs City Council member Lisa Middleton stated that both the Riverside County District Attorney’s office and the Palm Springs Police Department are investigating. Following the probe, DAP Health has taken over full management of the program to ensure uninterrupted benefits for participants. Initially intended to observe the project, DAP Health is currently not under investigation. The program, reported by the Palm Springs Post, was designed to provide $800 monthly payments to low-income residents for 18 months.
