Olympic Tennis Tournament Draw Announced for Coachella Valley Resident
Coachella Valley native and tennis player Desirae Krawczyk learned her first round opponents Thursday in women’s doubles at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. A Palm Desert resident and the current world No. 12 in doubles, Krawczyk is representing Team USA along with doubles partner Danielle Collins. The fourth-seeded duo will face Greece’s Maria Sakkari and Despina Papamichail in their opening match, according to the tournament draw released Thursday morning.

Semi driver arrested after Border Patrol discovers 450 pounds of liquid meth
INDIO, Calif. (WKRC) - A semi driver was arrested after Border Patrol agents discovered he was hauling 450 pounds of liquid meth. According to a press release from United States Customs and Border Protection, at around 2 p.m. on July 8, agents observed a semi truck on Highway 86 near Coachella, California. A K-9 in a Border Patrol team, which was trained to detect concealed people and illegal drugs, was alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle.

Closure of Museum Way for 'Forever Marilyn' a waste of Measure J funds
On Thursday, during the Palm Springs City Council meeting, the city will hold a public hearing on the permanent closure of Museum Way for the "Forever Marilyn" statue. You might recall that the city used Measure J tax funds not only to purchase the property for Museum Way from Grit Development, but those funds were also used to build Museum Way, which at that time was deemed necessary and important to provide an unobstructed view corridor to the Palm Springs Art Museum. If the street is closed, it’s a waste of public funds.
