‘Military Days’ At The Tram
During the entire month of July 2024, all U.S. military personnel with valid military identification—active, former, and retired—receive free admission to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, along with a special gift for “Military Days.” Spouses of deployed military members, as well as military widows and widowers, also qualify for the promotion. A Hemet man has pleaded guilty to "catfishing" a 12-year-old girl in order to receive sexually explicit photos of herself and her even younger sister. John Mathew Piecuch, 64, admitted to the felony charge during a hearing at the U.S. District Court in Santa Ana for using the material to produce child pornography, according to a statement from federal prosecutors. They dropped two additional related charges under a plea agreement.
Dozens of Rescued Dogs Flown to Utah for New Homes
Over 50 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Desert Hot Springs were flown to Utah by the nonprofit Wings of Rescue. This marks the third dog hoarding case in the area in the past three weeks. Riverside County Deputies Arrest Two Suspects in Armed Robbery, Assault, and Carjacking Case from Early June
July 27, 2024 – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office officials report that on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 7:00 a.m., personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Palm Springs Police Department, District Attorney’s Gang Impact Team, and United States Marshal’s Service served arrest and residential warrants at residences located in the 2700 block of Michigan Drive, Salton Sea, 60 block of La Jolla Drive, Desert Shores, 11300 block of Ocotillo Road, Desert Hot Springs, 81800 block of Avenida Del Mar, Indio, and the 67600 block of San Jacinto, Desert Hot Springs. These warrants were the result of an extensive investigation to identify the additional suspects of the armed robbery and carjacking that occurred on June 3, 2024. The additional suspects were identified as Garrett Rivera, a 20-year-old resident of Desert Shores, and Paul Garcia Nava III, a 23-year-old resident of Desert Hot Springs. Both Rivera and Nava were booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for robbery, carjacking, and assault with a deadly weapon.
