(El Centro Sector Border Patrol Agents stop a freightliner near Coachella)...The rig was traveling North on Highway 86 recently.. During the stop, a Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to thee vehicle. The semi and the driver were transported to the Indio Border Patrol Station. The liquid in the fuel tanks tested positive or methamphetamine. The total weight of the meth came in at 450 poundds, with a street value of $540,000. The driver of the rig, a 31 year old Mexican citizen was arrested and the vehicle was seized, along with the methamphetamine.

Jean F. Foshee, 80, died at home on June 28, 2024. She was born on Aug 9, 1943 in Chicago IL to Richard and Leota Giltmier. Her father was in the Army and they settled in the Los Angeles Valley when she was 15 months old. Jean was the oldest of three siblings and was preceded in death by both of her parents and her two bothers Richard Giltmier and Philip Giltmier.

July 22-24, 2024, from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. What: The contractor will grind down the top surface of the roadway and replace it with new asphalt. Also included in the project are minor adjustments to utility covers in the roadway, replacing all traffic striping and roadway markings on the new asphalt surface. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and the use of alternate routes is encouraged to avoid possible delays. Work is being done at night to reduce the impact on the community.
