Morongo Valley’s Rawson Road Improvement nonprofit meets tonight in Covington Park
Tonight, the Morongo Valley nonprofit Rawson Road Improvement will be holding their first official meeting in Covington Park’s multipurpose room at 6 PM. Rawson Road Improvement is the local nonprofit seeking to form a special roads district for a section of Morongo Valley where residential dirt roads are difficult to navigate due to erosion and other issues. Rawson Road Improvement’s focus is on the north side of Hwy 62, between Big Morongo Canyon and Desert Willow and to the north at Panorama, Cheyenne, and Northridge.

Welcome to Tuesday, everyone! Last week’s Palm Springs City Council meeting was a marathon session that resulted in us writing four stories (which might be a record). One left on the cutting room floor was the council’s approval of moving ahead with plans for a permanent vacation of a section of Museum Way, which might lead to the Marilyn Monroe sculpture staying in place. The council approved an intent to vacate the roadway in its consent agenda, but that was only the first step. Look for a public hearing on the matter at its next meeting (scheduled for July 25).
