San Jacinto Peak from The Tramway
Very fun and memorable experience to hike this trail starting from the tramway. Most of the entire trail is very straightforward and not too difficult although getting to the actual summit is a bit of a crazy scramble. At least it was to me since I couldn't find an obvious path up there for the very last portion.

Local candidates pull papers; General Election is Nov. 5
This year, on Nov. 5, the City of Yucaipa and Calimesa will hold a general municipal election. The City of Yucaipa has three seat vacancies; District 3, District 4 and District 5, all with four-year terms. The candidate nomination filing period will be from July 15 to Aug. 9. Candidates can pull paperwork with the City Clerk Ana Sauceda, on the city’s website. Paperwork is due Aug. 9 at noon. Candidates can only serve in the district of residence. The current runners are Georgeann Hanna, District 3; Councilman Bobby Dean Duncan, District 3; Lyle Vick, District 3; Mayor Justin Beaver, District 4 and Councilman Jon Thorpe, District 5. Residents can register to vote in person at Yucaipa City Hall at 34727 Yucaipa Blvd Yucaipa, online at registertovote.ca.gov or by mail at San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters, 777 East Rialto Avenue, San Bernardino.
Suspected tool robbery in Landers ends in arrest
An alleged robbery of tools led to a hospitalization and an arrest of a man on parole. At around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (July 18), a witness reported an altercation between neighbors in Landers. The report made to the Sheriff’s Department indicates that an 85 year-old got into a conflict with Eddie Lowery, 52, over the whereabouts of tools in the 59000 block of Philippi Lane in Landers.

Coachella Valley native and tennis player Desirae Krawczyk learned her first round opponents Thursday in women’s doubles at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. A Palm Desert resident and the current world No. 12 in doubles, Krawczyk is representing Team USA along with doubles partner Danielle Collins. The fourth-seeded duo will face Greece’s Maria Sakkari and Despina Papamichail in their opening match, according to the tournament draw released Thursday morning.
