Spraying For Mosquitoes In Indio And Coachella
The Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District will conduct weekly truck-mounted mosquito control applications to reduce the risk of local transmission of mosquito-borne viruses in Indio and Coachella. The treatments are planned for Saturdays, beginning July 20th, 2024, and continuing through September 21st, 2024, between 1:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Suspect Flees Empty-Handed in Latest Coachella Valley Bank Robbery
A man in disguise attempted to rob a Wells Fargo in Palm Springs last night but fled without any money. The suspect, who threatened a teller with a firearm, was later tracked to a vehicle in Thousand Palms, where authorities detained three individuals and recovered the weapon. This marks the third bank robbery in the Coachella Valley in under a month. Although the same suspect may be responsible for earlier heists, he is not linked to last night’s incident. Exciting projects were presented Thursday afternoon during a rare joint meeting between the Palm Springs City Council and the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians. Tribal representatives discussed the building of a tribal court, set to open off Tahquitz Canyon Way in October. They said it will cover cases such as civil jurisdiction and social and family services.

Over 75 years ago, the residents of our valley formed the Desert Health Care District to bring better health care to our area. It is funded with a portion of our property tax dollars, and it owns Desert Regional Medical Center. Currently the district is in negotiations with Tenet Health Care, who leases and operates Desert Regional Medical Center for the district, as to whether to sell the hospital to Tenet at the end of the next lease.
