Garrett County Junior Golf Tour: Winnfield Tournament 4
A beautiful, breezy, and cool July 1st here at Winnfield today. Great rounds today from all the players, showing tons of improvement all around and a very fun day. The Scheffler Tour was topped by Carter Bishoff with a 48 at a smaller margin than previous tournaments with Noah Luzier right on his tail. The Woods Tour was commanded by Wyatt Johnson and his 43 with 3 birdies in a row! But Carter Goff and Quincy Cavazos were close behind keeping the pressure on Wyatt. Our Nicklaus Tour was another right race with Brooks Mead leading the way with a 43. Alex Benton followed right behind with his 45.

Hospice of Garrett County fundraiser brings in over $3,000
OAKLAND — Shop ’N Save of Oakland hosted a fundraising campaign from June 6 to June 16 to support the mission of Hospice of Garrett County. Store customers and staff raised $2,907 during the campaign and The Craig Phillips Foundation provided a $500 grant, raising the grand total donation to $3,407.
Ross earns first-team All-Area baseball honors
CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Times-News All-Area baseball teams were unveiled last week, and multiple Garrett County athletes were featured. Northern Husky junior Luke Ross earned first-team honors as an outfield selection. Second-teamers from Garrett County included Northern’s Robert Deatelhauser (pitcher) and Wally Brands (infielder) and Southern’s Reece Tasker (catcher) and Jared Haskiell (utility).
