United Way launches ‘Stuff the Bus’ supply drive to prepare students for the upcoming school year
In preparation for the upcoming school year, United Way of 1000 Lakes is seeking donations of backpacks and school supplies as part of the annual Stuff the Bus drive, which runs through August. The goal of the initiative is to ensure students start the school year prepared to learn and succeed by providing backpacks packed full of appropriate school supplies. Army Soldiers Hosts Event To Show Community What They Do
CHISHOLM, Minn. — There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes of the Army National Guard. On Saturday, Military members at the Chisholm Armory had the opportunity to show the community what they all do. People could check out the armory’s fleet of vehicles. Guests also had the chance to climb inside and look around. There was a lot of fun activities for the kids, like a bounce house. This type of event is especially important to the soldiers and their loved ones.
Man killed in crash southwest of Willmar Tuesday morning
(Willmar MN-) A Willmar man is dead after a crash between a car and a semi loaded with turkeys southwest of Willmar this morning. The crash happened during the heavy rainstorm on Highway 23 near Kandiyohi County Road 5 on the southwest corner of Willmar, around 7:47 a.m. Preliminary info is that the 42-year-old driver of the Honda Civic was killed and the semi driver, a 30-year-old Willmar man, was not injured. The semi was traveling eastbound, toward Willmar, and the Honda was westbound on 23 when they collided. No names have been released at this time.
Fagen Fighters’ Helldiver Soars Again!
We are thrilled to report that the world now has a second airworthy Helldiver! Curtiss SB2C-5 Helldiver BuNo.83393, under long-term rebuild with the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum, made its first post-restoration flight from their facility in Granite Falls, Minnesota today. Well respected CAF Helldiver pilot, Ed Vesely, was at the controls for the initial test hop, which went smoothly according to those present. This aircraft is one of just eight complete Helldivers extant anywhere in the world and will prove an exciting addition to the air show scene, presenting a fine testament to the naval aviators who once wielded The Beast in combat.

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Mike Lindell's MyPillow may dodge eviction from another one of its Twin Cities buildings after a virtual court hearing on Tuesday morning.Delaware-based Exeter Finance filed a lawsuit earlier this month alleging MyPillow is nearly $450,000 behind in rent payments for its Shakopee facility that houses an outlet store and a warehouse. Valleyfair's Fourth of July fireworks show rescheduled to Aug. 31
SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Valleyfair's Fourth of July fireworks show, which was canceled due to flooding, has been rescheduled for the end of summer.The Shakopee amusement park announced Tuesday the show will now take place Aug. 31 during the final weekend of Corn Fest. The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.Flooding from the Minnesota River in late June caused Valleyfair to close its on-site parking and three rides. It also reduced entrance and exit capacity at the park.Corn Fest is the park's celebration of "Minnesota's favorite crop," organizers said. It features special corn concessions, live music, a corn eating contest and more. The festival runs Saturdays and Sundays, plus Labor Day, from Aug. 17 through Sept. 2. Corn Fest and fireworks are included in the park's admission fee. Corn Fest isn't the only major event on the calendar for Valleyfair. In January, the park will host Hockey Day Minnesota
