Shots Fired at 1200 Block of US HWY 79 North in Henderson, Suspect at Large
On July 20, 2024, at approximately 1:00 AM, the Henderson Police Department received a call reporting shots fired at the 1200 block of US HWY 79 North. Officers responded to the scene, and CID detectives were called out. The detectives determined that a shooting had occurred, but no injuries were reported. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect, who is still at large. The suspect is described as a Black male with short hair, wearing a red Chief's Jersey, white Air Jordans, and blue jeans.

Seven Carthage athletes earned honors on the 2024 All-East Texas Boys Soccer Team for the 2024 season. State semifinalist Kilgore swept the top honors. Gary FFA officers planning for upcoming school year
Gary FFA officers have been busy this summer planning for the upcoming school year, according to Gary ISD. District Leadership Camp is held each year for the 23 schools in the Longview FFA District. FFA districts and areas are based on location and not the size of the school. For example, Gary FFA had 60 FFA members this past year and Longview FFA (the sixth largest program in the State of Texas), had 694 FFA members, and in all competitions at the district level the two compete against each other.
City of Center dog kennel shut down, operators arrested after investigation
CENTER, Texas (KTRE) - A dog kennel operated by the City of Center was shut down and the stewards arrested Wednesday, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says. According to a Thursday release, the sheriff was alerted to the Center kennel situation on Wednesday, when concerned citizens said dogs were being housed in unsuitable conditions. City of Center Suspends Animal Control Activities
July 19, 2024 - The City Council adopted animal control ordinances most recently in 1998 to assist in stray animal population control, state rabies regulations and dangerous dog sections of State law. The Center Police Department is responsible for enforcing those ordinances and responding to animal complaints including nuisances and dangerous animal situations.
