The Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana in Gary donated $25,000 to Northwest Indiana Symphony’s South Shore Summer Music Festival.

The annual festival features free outdoor symphony concerts in parks across Northwest Indiana. The concert series kicked off July 19 and continues through Aug. 3.

The concerts offer classical and patriotic music as well as music from Broadway musicals and movies. At every concert, the orchestra plays a musical piece in honor of the troops and veterans.

Matt Schuffert, Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana president, said music is an important element of the Hard Rock brand.

“We’re proud to support the South Shore Summer Music Festival,” Schuffert said in a press release . “This program is a great extension of our shared love of music and further defines us as one of Northwest Indiana’s top community supporters.”

Each year up to 20,000 people throughout the Region enjoy the South Shore Summer Music Festival. Audiences at each performance range from 1,000 to 4,000 people.

“We are so grateful to Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana for its leading support of the 17th season of the South Shore Summer Music Festival,” said David Mika, Northwest Indiana Symphony executive director. “Hard Rock’s commitment to support the arts in the Northwest Indiana community has been outstanding.”
