    The Ocala housing market is attracting significant interest from buyers outside the area, particularly those from major metropolitan areas in South Florida and the Northeast, according to new data from Realtor.com.

    In the first quarter of 2024, the Ocala metro area saw 13.5% of its total view count on Realtor.com coming from the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach area, the highest percentage of any metro browsing Ocala home listings.

    The New York-Newark-Jersey City metro was close behind at 12.3% of the total view share, while Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford contributed 11.1% as buyers potentially look to relocate from the larger cities in central Florida.

    Other metros with sizable numbers of home searchers eyeing Ocala include Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater (6.0%), Atlanta (5.6%), Chicago (2.6%), and San Francisco (2.3%).
