BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse in Gainesville, Florida, received an administrative complaint following a routine inspection on July 22, which revealed several violations that required a follow-up review.

What Happened During The Inspection: The Alachua County establishment, located at 6611 W Newberry Rd in The Oaks Mall, was cited for nine violations, including two high-priority infractions.

The inspection revealed issues with food safety practices. A high-priority violation involved an employee touching soiled clothing before handling clean equipment without washing hands. Another high-priority concern was the improper cold holding of time/temperature control for safety foods, with items like noodles, shrimp, and milk wash held at temperatures above the safe point.

An intermediate violation was noted for food-contact surfaces soiled with debris or mold-like substances, affecting various equipment, including soda nozzles, the ice machine, and cutting boards.

Basic violations encompassed improper storage of clean utensils, use of duct tape for repairs, and ice buildup in freezers.

Despite these infractions, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse maintains a 4.2-star rating from 2,046 Google reviews, indicating continued customer satisfaction.

Recent patrons praised the food quality and attentive service, with one reviewer highlighting the prime rib and another commending the beer selection.

A customer named Ben Amos shared on Google Reviews:

Food was too good to stop and take pictures of but it was all delicious. Great beers as well. Joelle was also great. Stopped by here on our way to Orlando and will again!

The inspection results require a follow-up review to ensure all violations are addressed. The inspector's note showed that while the infractions require attention, they do not pose an immediate threat to public health.

NOTE: Please note that an inspection report, per the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, provides a snapshot of the conditions observed during the inspection.
