Bradenton, Florida, burger lovers, get ready for a Texas-sized treat. Whataburger, the popular fast-food chain, is planning to open its first restaurant in Manatee County.

Where Will It Be Located: The Texas-based burger giant has set its sights on 7267 State Road 64 E in Bradenton. This move marks a noteworthy expansion for Whataburger in Florida, as it currently has no locations south of St. Augustine despite having 45 outlets statewide.

Reports said Franchise owner Joseph Bermudez had taken the first step by submitting paperwork for a pre-application meeting with Manatee County Development Services.

However, burger fans shouldn't fire up their appetites just yet. The project is still in its early stages, and it may be some time before the restaurant opens its doors.

When it does arrive, though, Whataburger will join a crowded fast-food scene in Bradenton. The area already boasts chains like Five Guys, McDonald's, and Burger King.

Whataburger, founded in 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, has built a loyal following with its made-to-order burgers using 100% pure American beef. The chain boasts 1,033 restaurants across 16 states and territories in 468 cities.

Its popularity recently earned it the No. 9 spot in USA TODAY's list of best regional fast-food restaurants.
