Missing teen in Lauderdale Lakes, FL found: BSO reports

The Broward Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday that 16-year-old Alex Edwards, who had been missing for over a week, has been safely located. Edwards, the report confirmed, returned home to his family, bringing comfort to the community that had been actively helping to locate him.

"Sixteen-year-old Alex Edwards was safely located. Investigators say Edwards returned home to his family," BSO release said.

Prior to being found, Edwards had been last seen on Monday, July 15, around 10 a.m. near the 2700 block of Northwest 34th Terrace in Lauderdale Lakes. The BSO Missing Persons Unit issued a lookout notice on Friday, July 26, asking for the public's help in locating the teen.

At the time of his disappearance, Edwards was described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black sweatpants.

The Broward Sheriff's Office did not provide details about where Edwards was found or the circumstances of his return. However, they confirmed that he is now safely back with his family.
