Golden Krust, located at 2525 E Hillsborough Ave in Tampa, Florida, received an administrative complaint following a routine inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation on July 29, 2024.

The Caribbean and Jamaican restaurant, known for its beef patties and jerk chicken, was cited for 13 violations, including 2 high-priority infractions.

What Happened During The Inspection: According to the inspector's note, high-priority issues included operating with an expired license and improper hot holding temperatures for time/temperature control for safety foods. Cooked snapper (fish) and curry chicken were found at unsafe temperatures on the cook line, prompting corrective actions.

Intermediate violations highlighted the absence of written procedures, non-functional paper towel dispensers at handwash sinks, and improperly date-marked ready-to-eat foods.

Basic violations involved a cutting board with excessive cut marks, improper storage of employee personal items, and unwashed raw fruits and vegetables.

Despite these infractions, Golden Krust maintains a 4.1-star rating from 503 Google reviews. Local guide Duane Griffith noted on Google Reviews,

"Typical Jamaica Caribbean franchise restaurant, it's clear that the cook is Jamaican and added their personal touch to the food. The food tastes better than other restaurants in the chain that I've been to."

A follow-up inspection is required to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

NOTE: Please note that an inspection report, per the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, provides a snapshot of the conditions observed during the inspection.
