The Popeyes location at 2561 Enterprise Rd, Orange City, recently underwent an inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation on August 2, where inspectors discovered several violations that needed attention.

What Happened During The Inspection: The popular fast-food chain in Volusia County, Florida, known for its Louisiana-inspired spicy fried chicken, chicken sandwich, biscuits, and sides, received a warning with a follow-up inspection required due to 8 violations.

The inspector's note revealed that high-priority violations included time/temperature control for safety food held at temperatures above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, which was corrected on-site, and a missing vacuum breaker at the mop sink faucet.

Meanwhile, intermediate violations noted unsuitable use of a handwash sink for purposes other than handwashing, with an ice scoop placed at the drive-thru window hand wash sink, which was also corrected on-site. Additionally, some employees had expired training certifications.

Basic violations were more numerous, with four issues identified. These included the use of a bowl without a handle to dispense food, soiled ceiling tiles and vents in various areas.

The inspection note also revealed issues with nonfood-contact surfaces like food storage shelving and freezer door exteriors being soiled with food debris, and objectionable odors near the breading station and office hallway.

Rating and Reviews: This Volusia County, Florida, Popeyes location was allowed to continue service after addressing some of the immediate concerns, but a follow is needed.

The restaurant holds a rating of 3.9 stars from 1,578 Google reviews, with customers often praising the chicken sandwich and friendly staff, though some mention occasional long wait times.

Jonathan Cox, a Local Guide, said on Google Reviews:

"The chicken sandwich is still one of the best things on the menu. I have ordered it 5 times in two months. And 4 times out of 5 times, it was spectacular. The 5th time, it was disappointing, but everyone has an off day. Staff is friendly and approachable. The wait time is sometimes pretty long."

NOTE: Please note that an inspection report, per the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, provides a snapshot of the conditions observed during the inspection.
