Checkers in Port St. Lucie, located at 10461 S Federal Hwy, was temporarily closed for the third time, including its second closure in 2024. This fast-food establishment, part of a popular chain known for serving burgers, hot dogs, french fries, and shakes, holds a 3.5-star rating from 1,119 Google reviews.

However, the recent closure of the St. Lucie County eatery on August 6, 2024, was prompted by a series of violations that led to an emergency order. Thankfully, though, a follow-up inspection on August 7, 2024, confirmed compliance with inspection standards.

    What Happened During The Inspection?

The August 6 routine inspection revealed a total of eight violations, including one high-priority issue related to roach activity. The inspector noted the presence of live roaches near the cashier station, an essential concern for food safety.

The basic infractions included a damaged ceiling in the women's restroom, dead roaches in the freezer, and a hole in the restroom wall.

The intermediate violation pertained to the lack of proof of required food safety training for some employees.

As a result, the restaurant was ordered to discontinue operations until these issues were rectified.

A follow-up inspection of this St. Lucie County restaurant on August 7th found the establishment in compliance with regulations, resulting in its reopening.

Checkers in Port St. Lucie also closed on July 24, 2024. Prior to this, the restaurant faced another closure on February 21, 2023, indicating a recurring challenge in maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.
