The IHOP located at 312 US Highway 1 in North Palm Beach, Florida, temporarily closed on August 9, 2024, following a complaint-driven inspection. This popular breakfast spot, known for its pancakes and American diner fare, faced a brief shutdown due to seven violations identified by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.

Thankfully, though, the Palm Beach County frequently visited restaurant swiftly addressed these issues, reopening the next day with a clean slate.

What Happened During The Initial Inspection?

During the August 9 inspection, the facility was cited for four high-priority violations and three basic violations.

High-priority infractions included a dishwashing machine failing to meet chlorine sanitizer strength requirements, necessitating manual sanitization.

Additionally, the inspector's note revealed that approximately 50 small flying insects were observed in the dining area, and shell eggs with broken shells were found in the walk-in cooler, prompting a stop-sale order.

The unsuitable storage of commercially processed reduced oxygen packaged (ROP) salmon, which was not kept frozen as required, also contributed to the stop-sale order.

Basic violations highlighted concerns such as clean glasses stored under a paper towel dispenser, exposing them to potential contamination.

Uncovered food items were placed near a sink, risking exposure to splashes, and commercially processed fish was incorrectly stored, further emphasizing the need for adherence to food safety protocols.

This IHOP in North Palm Beach quickly complied with the necessary corrective actions, as evidenced by the follow-up inspection on August 10, which found zero violations.

This rapid turnaround underscores the restaurant's commitment to maintaining its standards and ensuring a safe dining experience for its patrons.

With a 3.9-star rating from 1,669 Google reviews, IHOP remains a favored destination for breakfast lovers in Palm Beach County.

Monica Maloney, a local guide, shared on Google reviews:

Food was ok. Pancakes good. Eggs , ehh. Turkey bacon was good. Server was ok. She tried. Tables very tight. Very small Ihop
