Outback Steakhouse, located at 2225 Hwy 44 W in Inverness, Citrus County, FL, was recently cited for a few violations following an inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation.

The well-known steakhouse, boasting a solid 4.3-star rating from 3,519 Google reviews, displayed 8 violations during its latest inspection on August 9, 2024, prompting a follow-up inspection requirement.

This evaluation identified three high-priority violations, two intermediate violations, and three basic violations, indicating a need for improvement in key operational areas.

The high-priority violations noted include the presence of live flying insects in multiple areas of the kitchen. Additionally, temperature control issues were observed, with items such as shredded cheese and ribs being held at temperatures above the recommended level.

Further, a serious cleaning issue was noted with wastewater accumulating on the ground near the dish machine, highlighting potential risks.

Intermediate violations revolved around unsuitable food cooling methods and an inaccessible handwashing sink for employee use in the dish area.

Basic violations included an undisplayed current restaurant license, an employee chewing gum during food preparation, and personal items stored wrongly in food preparation areas.

As patrons continue to enjoy the widely appealing steakhouse offerings, including sumptuous steaks and hearty dishes, these operational shortcomings suggest that customer service and health safety measures are areas for attention.

In the words of one customer and a Google reviewer named Jake Calvert:

We had the pleasure of getting Daniel as our server and host. Was extremely helpful with menu navigation and showing us the best ways to save our money. Really amazing guy. I wish him all the best.

Only time will tell how Inverness' Outback Steakhouse addresses these points, with a follow-up inspection anticipated to reaffirm their commitment to upholding standards with their brand.
