    Longhorn Steakhouse in Riverview, Florida, received a notification from inspectors on August 26, 2024, before rectifying several violations during a recent visit from state authorities.

    The popular steak restaurant, located at 12974 S US Hwy 301 in Hillsborough County, was cited for 12 violations during a routine food inspection.

    What Happened During The Inspection?

    The inspection report revealed 3 high-priority, 2 intermediate, and 7 basic violations.

    According to state records, high-priority infractions included live flying insects in the kitchen and food preparation areas, as well as time/temperature issues with butter containers at the server station.

    The Inspector also observed multiple flies throughout the establishment, including one on a container of mayo in dry storage, four in the dry storage area, two in the prep area, and three in the dishwashing area.

    Meanwhile, intermediate violations involved a handwash sink being used for purposes other than handwashing, while basic violations ranged from unsuitable food storage to plumbing infractions.

    The Follow-up Inspection and Ratings

    Riverview residents will be happy to know that a follow-up inspection on August 28, 2024, showed noteworthy improvement. According to the inspector's note, Longhorn Steakhouse met inspection standards during this visit, with only one basic violation remaining.

    Longhorn Steakhouse owns a 4.4-star rating from 1,983 Google reviews, suggesting generally positive customer experiences, although a recent customer and local guide, Winston Joseph III, shared:

    This was my first time here. Atmosphere was very nice. Family friendly casual, but I saw a lot of couples or people celebrating. My only issue here was the bathrooms.
