A one-year-old baby is reported safe after a lightning strike caused a dramatic incident in West Park. According to WSVN 7 News, the lightning struck a metal fence outside a home on SW 33rd Court, traveling through the ceiling and hitting the bedroom where the infant was sleeping.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the emergency on Tuesday morning.

Family members reported that the lightning began by hitting the pavement before it moved up the metal fence. The jolt then shot through the ceiling, causing parts of the Sheetrock to fall onto the baby’s mattress.

    Thankfully, the child was unharmed.

"The baby is OK, but for now, no problem," the man said, speaking to 7News. "For now, no problem."

In the meantime, while no injury was reported, the ceiling in the house suffered considerable damage.

According to the WSVN 7 News report, repairs are now being made at the home.
