Wolfy's Leesburg Restaurant in Lake County, Florida, was cited for 14 violations

Wolfy's Leesburg Restaurant, a popular diner at 1918 N 14th St in Leesburg, Florida, received 14 violations during a Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation inspection on September 12, 2024. The Lake County establishment, known for its affordable New American cuisine and all-day breakfast, wasn't ordered to close but requires a second follow-up inspection.

The initial inspection, which showed three of the infractions corrected on-site, uncovered four high-priority, two intermediate, and eight basic violations, state records revealed.

A subsequent follow-up review on September 13, 2024, showed improvement, with only one violation remaining. However, this wasn't deemed satisfactory, so another inspection was required after one of the high-priority violations was still discovered.

Key infractions included roach activity, time/temperature control issues for cold-held foods, and employees failing to wash their hands before handling food. The inspector also noted issues with cleanliness, including litter collection on equipment and soiled surfaces.

Inspectors found a live roach by the kitchen hand sink, which the cook eliminated. Time and temperature management violations were noted for several foods, including cut tomatoes, sausages, beef patties, pork chops, and chicken breast, all held above the required temperature.

Despite these challenges and the need for a second inspection, Wolfy's maintains a 4.3-star rating from 2,349 Google reviews and a 3.6 rating from 92 Yelp reviews. The restaurant is popular for its daily specials, with breakfast starting at $6.25 and BBQ chicken dinners for $8.99.

A local customer, Tonya B., of Leesburg, FL, shared on Yelp:

Like a good Wolfies dinner when I'm in the mood for some old-fashioned home cooking services is great very friendly and on top of everything!

For Lake County residents and visitors, please note that an inspection report, per the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, provides a snapshot of the conditions observed during the inspection.

    High Priority Violations:

    • Employee failed to wash hands before putting on gloves to handle food
    • Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found
    • Time/temperature control issues for cold-held foods
    • Time/temperature control for safety food without proper time marking

Wolfies definitely needs to learn basic cleanliness, it’s always been a dirty place. Sure, it’s cheap but not worth getting sick from breakfast or lunch.
