A 25-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly holding a woman against her will for over 24 hours in Lehigh Acres, Lee County, as reported by WINK News. According to the report, Alexander Baptiste was arrested following a difficult ordeal that unfolded on September 12, 2024.

Lee County Sheriff's Office revealed that it responded to a call at around 3:40 p.m. about wrong imprisonment at a home on 3rd St. SW. Deputies discovered the victim had been subjected to physical abuse and threats during her captivity.

The sheriff's office report stated that Baptiste allegedly attempted to strangle the woman and used a kitchen knife to intimidate her into staying in the residence.

The Violent Crimes Unit took charge of the investigation, uncovering evidence of injuries consistent with closed-fist strikes and knife intimidation. These findings led to Baptiste's arrest on charges of false imprisonment, aggravated battery, and domestic battery by strangulation.

"Lee County is indeed safer today, as this criminal is no longer free to terrorize another innocent victim," stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno on the Lee County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

"Baptiste has a proven track record of having no self-control, or regard for others. Let this serve as yet another reminder, you will NOT come to Lee County and commit a violent act here without repercussions.

"I'm so proud of my team of detectives who worked tirelessly to ensure this suspect is where he belongs."

This incident highlights the importance of community attention and prompt reporting of questionable activities. Lee County residents are reminded to stay alert and report any concerns to local authorities immediately.

Baptiste is currently held without bond, awaiting further legal proceedings.
